Week 30

continued from Week 29

In all our years of having littles, I rarely called upon my sister for help. She wasn’t local and she didn’t have any littles of her own, in her arms that is.

Laura, my dear, sweet, younger sister had at this point in her life’s journey experienced two heart-wrenching losses of two precious babies. I know how I long to meet them in heaven, and I’m just their aunt, so imagine how my sweet Laura carries her sweet babies heavily in her heart. I share this because God just. didn’t. stop. lavishing His goodness which helped me grow in accepting His real and gifted presence with me, with us, with Laura.

That evening I had a meeting in Harrisburg for work and Ryan was working tax-time hours so we needed babysitting help and Laura was willing. It just so happened she had an appointment at a specialty clinic about 40 minutes away from where we lived, so it worked well for her to come and keep Audrey, Spencer and Caleb from when I left for work until Ryan returned home.

Upon her arrival she could tell something was different with me. I’m sure my swollen cry-face had her concerned but time was not in our favor for me to share, and I was specifically asked by our “angel” not to tell others of their willingness to give. I did get to ask how her appointment went and with that, she smiled and with a tear in her eye she let me know she was pregnant. My sweet, baby sister Laura was indeed carrying another precious baby. Her appointment was a significant gift, serving as a new support for her and this new pregnancy.

As her sister I have hoped to be one who over the past few years, while she lived through her losses, she felt safe in sharing her heart and heartache within it. I wondered if I did this well enough because I personally hadn’t experienced loss in this way and sadly knew of so many others who had been so cavalier and calloused to her.

Laura’s sharing of the news of their new baby on this day was such WONDER-FULL news to my already swollen heart. Only God.
